Many, many eyes

I have a significant amount of presbyopia… that stiffening of the focusing mechanism in the eye also known as Over-40-Eyes. I can’t see small things close up whatsoever. To compensate, I wear monovision contacts during the day.

They vastly improve my near vision, but they don’t exactly, shall we say, correct it.

When I’m sewing, I put on reading glasses over my contacts, and then I can really see!

So I go from two eyes to four eyes to six eyes. Hey, whatever it takes for the sewing!

A sneak peek of what I’m using my six eyes for right now.

My pal Cathy Perlmutter recently reviewed a geek-chic contraption she swears by, called MagEyes. From the looks of this thing it’s reading glasses on steroids! It was invented by a lady to aid in her hand smocking. Go read Cathy’s hilarious Gefiltequilt post, How You Look vs. How You See.

Don’t forget the Dog Cabin special is still on, through Tuesday, January 7, 2013!

Until next time,
Kay

Aw yes ~ The six eye solution! I’ve been there for quite awhile now!

Mono vision didn’t work for me as I kept hitting things on my left side like curbs, etc. when I drove. Not good! I’m now on multi focal (bi-focal contacts) and can get away without the reading glasses in a pinch when they’re not available but yes, even then I still use reading glasses. I’ve been very happy with the multi-focal. If you decide you don’t like the mono, ask to try the multi.

I have noticed my eyes have gotten worse in the past year so I finally got reading glasses, but I could still read some things without them. Then I couldn’t, so not sure what happened, luckily the glasses work fine, but will mention the sudden loss to my eye doc, this week.

Too funny! I have taken to wearing two pairs of glasses at once…my reading glasses over top of my regular bifocals. If I can get them to sit just right on my nose, I can have tripple vision!
